NJ’s Premier Certified Organic Asparagus, Chestnut and Pick-Your-Own Fruit Farm!
Hello! We are Jim Kinsel and Sherry Dudas, the owners/farmers of Chesterfield Organic Orchards in bucolic Chesterfield, NJ.
In 2023, we will have certified organic strawberries (2 varieties: Chandler and Flavorfest), American and Asian persimmons, pawpaws and figs available at our Chesterfield farm for pick-your-own harvesting as well as pre-picked retail sales. Figs will be a thrill to offer as a pyo crop (we believe we are the first farmers in the Garden State to offer pyo certified organic figs) and worth the drive to Chesterfield if you like fresh-picked, sun warmed figs (who doesn’t?).
If our organic apple trees produce edible fruits in the fall (fingers crossed!), they will be available as a pyo crop as well.
Our own harvested asparagus will be for sale during a portion of the strawberry season. PYO blackberries will also be available in the summer and harvested blueberries will be for sale after the pyo strawberry season winds down.
We will be updating this website and emailing in advance regarding when the pyo season opens, what the hours will be and the costs of the crops. We anticipate pyo strawberries to be ready for harvesting sometime after May 9th, 2023. Sorry to disappoint, but we do not offer a Community Supported Agriculture program or pick-your-own fruit in Pennington any longer. Our farm is open to the public from May through late October and closed during the rest of the year.

Our Farmland
Our farm is certified organic, which means our fields and growing practices meet strict federal standards. Those standards are upheld through inspections by third-party inspectors and conducted by the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York every year. We farm organically in Chesterfield Township, Burlington County on land permanently protected from development.
This land also includes forestland which provides wildlife habitat and carbon sequestration services.
